H.J. Heinz Company Foundation
Heinz & Its Foundation
Nation by Nation. Family by Family. Child by Child.
Good food is more than our business. It’s fundamental to life itself.
As a leading global food purveyor, Heinz has established the H.J. Heinz Company Foundation to promote the health and nutritional needs of children and families around the world.
Building a Better WorldSince 1951, we have been working to promote health and nutrition in the places where our help is most needed. Our groundbreaking Heinz Micronutrient Campaign is one example. Because more than 750 million children worldwide are affected by iron-deficiency malnutrition, this novel program allows Heinz to use our resources to help alleviate micronutrient malnutrition in developing nations around the world.
Caring Close to Home Heinz strives to be a generous benefactor in the communities where we operate. For instance, in our hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the H.J. Heinz Company Foundation is a highly visible donor to organizations such as the Union Project, Big Brothers & Big Sisters, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and the Western Gateway Project, to name just a few recipients.
The Foundation also encourages Heinz employees to get involved in their communities, become volunteers for charitable organizations and, in short, do their part to improve the lives of others.
The H.J. Heinz Company Foundation core program areas include:
- Nutrition -Promoting improvements in and a better understanding of good nutrition, and contributing to the health and well-being of people and communities
- Youth and Education-Supporting the positive development of children and youth by strengthening systems that affect learning and by sustaining programs that supplement the formal education process
- Diversity-Promoting the advancement of minority populations and women, with focus on development opportunities for girls and minority youth
- Strengthening Children and Families-Improving the overall well-being of people by ensuring children and families have the resources and services they need to live healthy and happy lives.
- Quality of Life-Promoting programs that support and add to the quality of our communities, including increased accessibility for low-income and disadvantaged individuals through art, cultural, educational and outreach programs.
